Help me find my birthday dress!

In a tad under three weeks time, I will be morphing from a 26 year old to a 27 year old. When asked by Sam what I wanted to do for my birthday, I said I wanted to keep it simple. Although I wouldn't mind another Bruges extravaganza like last year, the main focus is to save our pennies for China.

I will, however, be buying a new outfit like I do every year on my birthday. I've been scouring the internet this past week and have narrowed it down to 13 dresses (it's not very narrow but you should have seen the want list before). I am now reaching out for your help. It would be a great big awesome to me if you could pick your favorite of the below dresses. Two heads (or twenty) are better than one.

If it will help your decision at all, we are going to my favorite Mexican restaurant in London and then off to a 1920's themed cocktail bar.

Please post a comment with the number of the dress you think I should be wearing to ring in my 27th year.

Please Stand By

It's been an extremely busy week!

My attentions have, unfortunately, been elsewhere as there were some very important matters that needed tending too.

Please stand by as I've got lots of great stuff coming your way!!!

Hope you've all had a fantabulous week!

She's Crafty

For some reason I lack the DIY gene that the rest of my immediate family seem to possess. My sister is the ultimate crafter, mom is the redecorating queen, brother is a master artist and dad, well he can build anything. So recently when I decided to begin my first DIY I was a bit sceptical. But ladies an gentlemen (drum roll please).... I've done it!

Now don't let this build-up fool you. It was only a bit of sandpaper, wood stain and washing machine fabric dye but dammit I did it!

My mother in law gave me this ikea rocking chair and I've always had a disdain for it as it doesn't match the decor in our bedroom (where it lives). So last weekend, for the grand total of £10, I picked up the supplies I needed to give this baby a facelift. A little sanding, a little painting and a little sanding.....

This is what I got

And an awesome washing machine that did some fabric dying for me....

Voila!! My new chair!

P.S. I'm pretty sure Pinterest can take most of the blame for why I suddenly had the urge to be crafty.

I'm now on the search for a new throw and some interesting pillows to jazz it up a bit.

What do you think? Are you a DIY-er? What are your favorite projects?

The Obsession Begins...

About a year ago, I came up with the bright idea to start collecting vintage cameras. It seemed easy enough and to make my search quick, I could have just gone online and scooped up a whole bunch of vintage cameras. But that's not enough for me. I need the thrill of the search. And so my search commenced. It's been a long year but I finally found my first one!!!
During my weekly (yes weekly, but sometimes bi-weekly) charity shop perusing, I was looking for home decor type of items when I saw this brown camera shaped case. I immediately swooped it up and, after a minute or two, I finally got the damn thing open. I fell in love. My mind immediately began wondering what moments of whose lives this old thing captured.

When I got home I did some research and besides the Kodak Brownie, the Colorsnap was a very common camera to have. This one is the second model and was produced in Britain sometime between 1964-1967.

I am yet unsure if it works. I have loaded film into it and taken a few snaps and all seems ok. I am waiting for some nice weather to grab a few more photos before I attempt to get it developed. If the photos turn out ok, I'll be sharing them here.

I've found a few websites with photos from this exact camera and they look amazing! So let's hope I have the same luck!

Also on the lookout for: Vintage typewriter

What would you/do you collect? I'd love to hear.

Happy Dad's Day!

Today is Father's Day. I had so much fun writing this post, because it allowed me to think of some of my favorite memories of my
Dad. While reflecting on the awesomeness that is my Dad, I thought I'd take the time to say thank you.

So Dad, thank you-

For letting me sleep in the day after my birthday before a 12 hour motorcycle ride to northern California.

For teaching me to always put my seat belt on.

For making me realize that you would never give me anything I can't handle.

For always believing in me.

For making me sleep downstairs in stormy weather just in case a tree hit the house.

For picking me up from school on the tandem bicycle. You must have really looked silly riding that bike by yourself.

For Wednesday date nights, surfing, movies, dinner....

For the advice, "Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end."

For telling me, "Go. Be happy", right before I got on the plane to move to London.

For storing my surfboard for me.

For being my biggest fan, even if I struck out.

For giving me all of the tools I need in life, and reminding me if I sometimes forget.

For throwing away that homemade motorcycle stand you made.

For teaching me to ride a scooter.

For waking up, before sunrise, just to watch a motorcycle race.

For snuggling Tino. Even though you still won't admit you like him.

For teaching me to cook.

For keeping all the crap we made you as kids. That stuff is really great to look at now. Even though it's still quite crap.

For teaching me how to drive a car. Even if I did dump the f***ing clutch sometimes.

For burning the bacon that one time. I still only ever eat it crispy.

For the most amazing speech you wrote for the wedding. I am so blessed to have had my father give me away and officiate.

For sharing your memories with me. I know they're not always the easiest to share, but I'm glad you do.

For building, fixing, growing, installing everything and anything. Even when you had no idea what in the hell you were doing.

For telling the same cheesy jokes. They'll always be my favorite and I wouldn't forget any of them.

For calling me Plunkleberry. I still the only one.

You're one of the best friends I have ever had, Dad. You really don't know how much you mean to me, on this day and everyday.

 To Laguna Seca!! 2009

Teaching the son-in-law how to ride the dirt bike.

Ahhh...Still so cute after 30 years.

I Love you Daddy. Happy Father's Day.

Wonderful Waves

I was reviewing my post from the Jubilee weekend, I realized that I really liked the way my hair came out when I made it wavy. The truth is, it worked really well with my hair because it's quite thin and the waves gave it that little oomph it needed.

In honor of me liking the way my hair looked (doesn't happen too often) I thought I'd put together a hair tutorial.

Wonderful Waves

The finished product!

Happy HD (Hump Day)!
